Interactive, online Role Play

Role play is a widely used training methodology that immerses learners in scenarios they face every day at work to allow for skill practice and performance development. However, role plays have been traditionally delivered in a live/face-to-face setting and therefore are difficult to scale over a large, geographically dispersed population. This is why Advantexe has developed Praction®.

About Praction

Praction-logo.pngPraction is an interactive cloud-based role play application platform designed to build skills, drive learning retention, and provide learners with a virtual and effective way to assess, develop, and re-enforce new skills.  Our platform includes three unique role-play methodologies.  Each can be used separately or together as a step-by-step learning process. The methods include:

  • Observe and Rate - Create a foundation of understanding by observing a situation and then rating interactions against the desired key performance measures.
  • Single Play - Practice skills solo. Learners watch a business situation and post a video response to the hub for self, peer, and coach assessment and feedback.
  • Team Play - Two-way live virtual role play that allows learners to interact in real-time, anywhere, via audio or video. Praction records the role play and learners self-assess the role play and receive feedback from the partner and coach. Team Play can use real-world scenarios from your organization and assess against key performance measures and desired competencies.
Additional Information - How Praction Components Work
  • Learners log onto the system where they review a real-world scenario that can be customized for your organization. The situation can be delivered in text or video-based format.
  • After reviewing the scenario, learners evaluate the effectiveness of the scenario by filling out a Likert scale questionnaire. The questionnaire can be customized to your competencies or learning model.

Analytics – in-depth analytics provide advanced reporting on learners and cohort responses. This helps to measure knowledge and identify further areas for development.

Single play mode consists of a unique four step process that contains interactive video exercises that motivate employees to practice skills by allowing them to post responses to real-world scenarios and then share responses with peers and experts for feedback and self-reflection.

  1. Prompt – Learners access the platform from their computer and watch a short video presenting a business situation/prompt.
  2. Respond – Learners demonstrate their skills by recording themselves responding to the prompt. Participants can practice their response as many times as desired, working to perfect their approach.  When satisfied with the response, participants post their response to the platform.
  3. Rate - After posting a response, participants rate themselves and their peers. They evaluate themselves against pertinent competencies and then view and assess the responses of three peers.  They also receive feedback from coaches or managers.
  4. Self Reflection - Learners review the best practice approach and write out their reflections regarding how their response compares to that best practice example.

Analytics – In-depth analytics provide advanced reporting on learners. The system provides insights into scores over time based on coach, subject matter expert, and/or peer feedback.

Facilitator dashboard – facilitators can playback a learner’s recorded role plays. The facilitator  interface helps gain a deeper understanding of the strengths and weaknesses for each learner.

  • Learners log onto the system and review a real-world case study that Advantexe can custom develop for your organization. Within the case study, learners are assigned roles and are given background information about the situation.
  • Using Voice over Internet Protocols via video, learners live role play with a subject matter expert, coach, or another learner online. The system captures, records and saves the full session.
  • Once the session is completed, both learner and the subject matter expert review the role play and assess the performance of the learner against key performance measures.
