AI is still in the early stages across many industries, but there’s no question that it has already been
transformational. At Advantexe, we’re seeing firsthand how AI can elevate leadership development learning engagements, especially in the areas of developing business acumen and leadership skills.
One of the most exciting innovations we have recently launched is the AI Board of Directors (BOD) Debriefing Tool. Traditionally, after learners complete a business simulation workshop, we challenge them to present their strategy, goals, objectives, results, and guidance to a fictional board of directors, explaining what they did, why they did it, and where their simulated companies are going in the future, which simulates the real-world process leaders go through every quarter. These presentations help learners solidify their thinking, connect decisions to outcomes, and improve communication skills.
Now, we’ve taken this process to the next level with the support of AI.
What is the AI Board of Directors?
Our new AI BOD Brief feature simulates a board of directors' experience by embedding AI personas directly into the simulation software. Teams prepare for a formal board presentation just like they would in the real world, reviewing results, articulating their strategy, outlining key decisions, and responding to performance challenges and opportunities.
But here’s the twist: instead of facilitators or peers playing the role of board members, learners now interact with AI-powered board personas!
Each AI board member has a unique personality, functional focus, and perspective. Some may have a focus on the financials. Others might push for innovation. A few may challenge assumptions or demand stronger alignment with ESG goals. And because they are AI-driven, these board members can provide dynamic, in-the-moment feedback based on what learners say.
Even better? We can customize these AI personas to match the tone, voice, and culture of any organization. And best of all, the AI is able to analyze the actual simulation results and see things that human facilitators may not.
Why It Works
The AI Board of Directors brings several powerful benefits to the learning experience:
1) Realistic Pressure, Risk-Free Environment
Presenting to a simulated board, especially one that challenges assumptions, adds a layer of pressure and realism. But because it’s still a learning environment, teams can make mistakes, reflect, and grow.
2) Dynamic Feedback from Diverse Perspectives
AI board members are programmed to represent different executive viewpoints. Learners get exposed to multiple angles: finance, marketing, operations, ESG, innovation, and more. This helps them build empathy for cross-functional leadership and refine their messaging for different audiences.
3) Personalized, Repeatable Practice
Because it’s AI-powered, learners can present more than once and get fresh feedback each time. That means more opportunities to build confidence and improve performance.
4) Scalable for All Levels
From first-time managers to senior leaders, this tool can be adapted for any level of learner. Whether you’re preparing for your first leadership role or your next executive presentation, the AI BOD provides a safe place to practice, reflect, and grow.
5) Saves Time, Extends Learning
We’ve seen a steady decrease in training time across many organizations. The AI Board of Directors is a smart way to extend the impact of a short simulation, driving deeper application without requiring additional instructor hours.
Summary
AI doesn’t just automate, it can also accelerate development by providing intelligent, scalable, and meaningful feedback in ways that feel authentic. Our AI Board of Directors tool is just one example of how we are making learning more immersive, more practical, and more powerful.
